About MAPEI IDROSTOP MASTIC

91 000 74051 Mapei Idrostop Mastic A one-component, thixotropic, solvent-free adhesive made from silliated polymers. It is specifically designed for bonding Mapei Idrostop hydrophilic expanding rubber waterstop profiles.

Primary Function: To provide a high-tack, rapid-hardening bond for installing Idrostop waterstop strips in concrete construction joints, ensuring a perfect and permanent seal against water ingress.

Q1: What is this product specifically used for?

A: It is used exclusively for bonding Mapei Idrostop hydrophilic waterstop strips in concrete construction joints to create a permanent waterproof seal. It is not a general-purpose adhesive.

Q2: How is it applied?

Prepare Surface: Ensure the concrete/metal/plastic surface is clean, sound, and free of oil, grease, or laitance.

Load Cartridge: Use a standard sealant gun with the 300ml cartridge and provided nozzle.

Apply Bead: Extrude a continuous bead of mastic onto the substrate.

Place Idrostop: Immediately press the Idrostop profile onto the mastic, moving it slightly to ensure full contact and adhesion.

Concrete Pouring: Concrete can be poured after 24 hours.

Q3: What is the coverage or consumption?

A: Consumption is approximately 300 ml of mastic for every 5 meters of Idrostop profile.

Q4: What are the key setting times?

A (at +23C & 50% RH):

Dust Dry: 10 minutes

Adjustment Time: 5 minutes

Initial Hardening: 25 minutes (on damp substrates) to 1.5 hours (on dry substrates)

Final Hardening: 24 hours

Q5: What is the temperature range for application?

A: It can only be applied when the temperature is between +5C and +35C.

Q6: What is the shelf life?

A: 18 months from the date of manufacture when stored in its original, unopened packaging in a dry, cool place.

Q7: Is it safe to use?

A: It is solvent-free and not classified as hazardous. However, as a professional product, it is recommended to wear protective gloves and goggles during handling. Always refer to the latest Safety Data Sheet (SDS).

Q8: How do I clean tools?

A: Clean wet mastic with solvents like ethyl acetate, petrol, or toluene. Once hardened, it can only be removed mechanically.
